日本羊脂球的自我牺牲由纯粹为他人转变成为了爱情，格局立意发生转变，不愧是沟口迷恋的女性形象。夏川大二郎出演沟口的电影也不少，就这部发型的缘故特别像洪金宝，看着怪囧的。

沟口现存最早有声片。羊脂球还真是包含吸引沟口的一切元素，甚至为了讲这个故事去拍西部片式的枪战。后半段的强加的感情戏陷入了新派剧的俗套，但月下女主目送小舟远去的结尾又很凄美。
